I have a love hate relationship with the music of Animal Collective, a lot of it seems too self indulgent and inaccessible, however they are certainly one of the most creative and innovative sound makers to break through to mainstream, or at least alternative mainstream acceptance. Much of the musical success is probably a result of the self indulgence and experimentation, which is why I continue to pay keen attention to them. What I enjoy most about them is their disregard for traditional structure, and the way they embrace and create unique organic noises. This combined with the usually joyous yelping and experimental vocals can result in some pretty wonderful tunes. They consistently deliver on the video end, with something oddly creepy and full of wonderful costuming. This new video for the song Peacebone is no exception.
