Mostly, the whole Safari show was a colossal misunderstanding, I think. The band actually had little direct contact with the venue but was led to believe that there in fact was a P.A. so no need to bring one. Believe me, if we had known the specs on that P.A. and that we ought to bring one, we certainly would have, not to mention the radio shack mics and speaker stands we had to jury rig into mic stands. I think everyone would have been happier with better sound up there, band and bar alike, for sure. No one in our group EVER promised a P.A. at any time. We did bring some folks out, about as many as the club itself had there. We had no idea what how late we were supposed to play until we set foot in the bar. Where i think it went wrong is that a friend booked this show and relayed info to us, so if there were all these contract stipulations we didn't necessarily know about them. Some of that is on us.
By the end of the first set we heard from friends there that the locals weren't digging it, and basically we just went ahead and played until just after 1 a.m. but yes, not quite until 1:30. The fellow who booked it jumped up onstage during our last set and told us the club didn't like us and we should just stop playing, so, in the absence of any communication from the venue, we did. Only just after that did the whole issue of 1:30 come up and that was at 1:15. Overall, it's a cool club and I don't have hard feelings about it- sometimes you book a show and there's miscommunication or it's not a good fit or in this case maybe both. We've literally never had these issues with a venue before. We could probably both have done better communication-wise (band should have dealt with club directly, club could have emailed a spec sheet) but we did appreciate the opportunity to play out there.

Cindy, Thanks for posting your side of the story. I doubt any of the Bad Assetts read this blog, but if they do I'll let them respond to the banning...but here is my response to your other points.
1. Hooray for Mr. Glen Parks for employing people that's definitely awesome and I say sincerely he deserves credit for it. However I stand by my statement/opinion about big game hunters (a club he obviously was part of). Screw that, I have strong feelings about it. I will tone it down in the post above since it hurt your feelings/struck a nerve, and you were kind enough to post here.
2. You interpreted my blog post as stereotyping Estacada citizens unfairly. I should clarify (and will do in the post above), just the Estacadans that happened to be hanging out at your bar that particular evening. Were you there?

I'm the owner of the Safari Club & just Stumbled across your Blog. We've had Bands like the Silverhawk, Hip Waiters, MuchMore Country, Franco Paletta & the Stingers, Hit Machine, The Strangetones, The Twangshifters, etc... Many of our Bands "Play Their Own Songs".

I Banned AND 86'd the Members of Bad Assets because they Broke our Contract. Simple as that. 1) They Contacted us to Request a Booking & Stated they would be Bringing a Party Bus of 40 People out for their Show. Never Happened. 2) They Stated the would Bring their Own PA Equipment. We Agreed to Paying for the Band AND their PA Equipment...Never Happened. They didn't Bring the PA we PAID them to & Had to use Ours. 3) They were Paid to Play until 1:30am. Never Happened. They Quit about an Hour Early & Refused my Asst. Manager's Request to get a Partial Refund.

Your Blog Stereotypes Estacada Citizens Unfairly, but you're Entitled to your opinion. Calling Mr. Glen Park, Who Employed Many of the Citizens of Estacada for YEARS in his Lumber Mill & Built one of the Most Loved Destinations in Oregon a "SICK FUCK GAME HUNTER" is Extremely Unkind, though. Was that Really Necessary?
