Tuba players are an odd breed, no denying it. As a bass player I know we share some things, a love for the lower register…the inevitable fact that you will be carrying the piece of gear that simply will not fit in the van, holding down the fort with the drummer/percussionists while the wanky soloists are getting all the play from the groupies…yeah, we’re a sad lot…Check out these cats as they festively rip through this tune, I have no idea who they are as I found this clip via a blind search for “tuba” on youtube, however when it comes time to take a solo this guy decides to invert the tuba and perform the solo upon himself (a serenade for my junk?)…I hope he got that whole having kids thing out of the way first? In the second clip which is quite long we witness the full circle from street beat box, to classical tuba…ok enough with the tuba, hopefully this will make James happy.
