In case you’re living under a rock and missed the news, Radiohead dropped a bomb on us today in releasing their next album (earlier than expected) over the internet…for free basically, or HOWEVER MUCH YOU THINK IT’S WORTH. What an amazing move, and I might say it is great to see a major label artist stepping up to the plate. The labels, and their lapdogs usually are seen as doing all the dirty work while most big time artists sit on the fat contracts avoiding the argument or in some cases fucking up the argument big time *cough* Metallica *cough*. It will be interesting to see how this plays out, and even though I am not a huge fan (I like them alright, just not on my daily rotation or anything), I will shell out some cash for their idea alone. This is an interesting time for artists and the industry, the artists have a real opportunity to influence the direction of things to come…so get out and support those who are trying to innovate.
