Trent Reznor and Saul Williams- The tide is moving swiftly
Saturday, November 3rd, 2007
Now that Reznor has left the major labels in his dust, he releases this new album by Saul Williams in the same fashion as Radiohead basically, with a few notable improvements. You have a choice of $5 for a higher quality version of the digital download, or free if you can live with a 192Kbps mp3 version of the album, which is a perfectly listenable amount of compression. The site was perfectly simple and ran smoothly as I entered my email address and downloaded the zip file in like 2 minutes. I am not familiar with the music of Saul Williams, so I grabbed the record free. If it rocks my world I’ll happily give them $5 for it. I think that is a perfectly reasonable price for a full album, Apple are you listening? I’m sure Apple knows it’s the major labels that don’t. Here is a better pricing structure for iTunes….99cents if you just want individual songs, $5 for the whole album DUH! I predict sales of whole albums will go up enough to cover the difference…give it a try, or lose this war…the tide is turning and moving swiftly away from you leeching money from artists and ripping off consumers with inflated cd prices, this could be your last chance.
