Well I don’t know if they stole the chord progression…it’s ridiculous to state that they did, as you can match up many chord progressions from a plethora of different songs, if you have endless hours to waste. Even if they did start out referencing the progression they certainly made it their own song in the end, which is all that really matters. The video shown here is pretty amazing as the musician Jack Conte plays all the instruments and even sings (pretty decently I might add) the Thom York parts. The songs are-
Radiohead- Exit Music for a Film (OK Computer)
Chopin- Chopin, Op. 28, no. 4

Saturday Morning Coffee with Evans and Israels
Here is a nice performance of the soft jazz number Waltz for Debbie from Bill Evans. Check out the chops on bassist Chuck Israels as he matches Bill on some of the runs, and lays down a pretty smooth solo. Good music to wash down some caffeine and get the day started.
Here’s a later version of the trio with Napolean Dynamite on bass…Bill is sort of sporting his Unibomber look…beard and mirror shades.
Phosphorescent- Wolves Live
Love this tune from Brooklyn folksters Phosphorescent, and I was pleased to discover this spirited and somewhat raucous live performance of it.
Phosphorescent performing the song “Wolves” of their album “Pride” at Cake Shop in NYC on November 1oth, 2007…

Man Man- Studio hijinks and fireworks
So by now you must have discovered Pitchfork TV, if not happy day for you. The online video showcase was launched recently by the same people who bring you Pitchfork obviously, and features exactly what you’d expect, good alternative music videos (great quality for online stuff)…minus everything you hate about MTV. Here is a fun video following the group Man Man around as they work on their new album “Rabbit Habits”. It’s great to see all the freedom and experimentation that the band exploits in the studio, which is exactly what you should do while recording…I agree with Honus Honus, every song should feature the recorded sounds of a dog in a bathtub.
Deathcannon Muxtape
Ok so I added a category here called Muxtapes, I’ll list cool ones that I find in said category! Here is the first entry, from Deathcannon. A nice mix of experimental mostly instrumental stuff, for those who like Sigor, LightningBolt etc. I really enjoyed the song from HEALTH which I had not previously heard…cool stuff!
Is It Too Early To Be Tripping Balls?
Thanks to one Vance Fink I am feeling a bit like a I grabbed the wrong vitamins while running disheveled out the house this morning. Check out this well edited trippy video…and enjoy some media induced visual hallucinogenics. It’s gonna be hot yo…but fear not, you won’t need a jacket.
My First Mux! Feelin’ Kinda Punk
Happy Sunday to you! I made my first Muxtape and would like to share it with y’all. Actually it’s my second one, first one was all classical music, I’ll try to recreate it later, something was going on with their servers which prevented me from being able to link to it. This site is great fun, you should make a Mux and post the link to it here in the comments so we can listen to some of your favorite music, and mock each other for our poor taste! Here is my track list for this one-

Mexican Emo Riots! Oh the Unbearable Sadness

Riot police took to the streets apparently in Mexico to protect the Mexican Emos, or as I shall refer to them henceforth Mexemos, as they gathered to protest attacks upon their ilk by Mexipunks and Mexibillys. It is shameful to attack someone because of their appearance, and I am shamed by my distant Mexipunk brethren. That being said…they are EMO, this should help more people feel sorry for them, which is the goal right? This is not a story from the Onion…I repeat, not from the Onion. Hey kids…stop fighting each other, you’re all basically on the same side of this bigger war we’re in.
A series of attacks on dyed-hair, eye-makeup-wearing emo kids began in early March when several hundred people went on an emo-beating rampage in Querétaro, a town of 1.5 million about 160 miles north of Mexico City.

Muxtape- Mix it up yo!
This is a really simple yet elegant site devised to allow you to create and share music mixes. I really appreciate the design of this thing which has basically no bells and whistles, and gets right to the point. Very well executed design in my opinion. The site was getting hammered with traffic as of this posting, so you can’t create an account, but their blog says they will be back up after 9pm. For now you can still head over and enjoy other people’s mixes. It is interesting to think, perhaps we will eventually no longer have any physical music of our own…it will all just be online at sites like this?

Helium Beatbox
This probably sounds funnier in description than it really is, but in case you need to do a Vocal Beatbox performance for a crowd of little people…or more specifically oompa loompas?…try adding some helium to your game plan!
